My Story
How everything started
Percival Dyer, a 20-year psychological healthcare practitioner, is Nationally Certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) and licensed both as licensed professional counselor — supervisor (LPC-SA) and marriage and family therapist (LMFT). She has also been granted appraisal privileges by the State of Louisiana. The District of Columbia, Georgia, and Texas have granted her practicing privileges, as well. Dedicated toward the counseling profession's developmental growth, Percival occasionally lobbies in Washington, DC., advocating for equal compensation access for LPCs, compared to LCSW counterparts performing similar, if not identical, duties. She is an active member with the American Counseling Association (ACA), a national counseling association and Louisiana Counseling Association (LCA).
Her educational attendance has included: Penn State University, Louisiana State University, and Southern University. She holds a Master’s of Education, emphasis in Mental Health and a Bachelor’s in Rehabilitation Services.
Her occupational history has spun both private and public sectors. Federal, state, and local governments have afforded her contractual opportunities to treat individuals suffering from a myriad of societal aberrations, resulting in traumatic experiences (e.g., massacres: Columbine, Virginia Tech, and Parkland; and natural disasters: Katrina, Gustav, and Harvey). Department of Defense subcontractors have also contracted Percival's skills. She has conducted psychological evaluations for academic institutions and disability determination, and forensic evaluations of minor and major criminal offenses, such as truancy, shoplifting, attempted murder, etc., for aversion programs and court systems. As an expert witness, according to judge(s), magistrate(s), and prosecutor(s), she has gained respect from colleagues inside and outside her professional domain.
Currently, Percival practices privately and occasionally consults with insurance companies and community mental health agencies regarding program development ect. Additionally, she treats individuals, families, and supervises postgraduates seeking professional counseling licensure.

Are Services Covered by Insurance?
Most counseling services are covered by insurance, subject to annual deductibles and a co-payment amount. I accept most healthcare coverage. You can call if you have questions about your coverage limits.

Do You Do Online Sessions?
I work with clients in the states where I am licensed to provide care, including Texas, Georgia, DC, and Louisiana. You must be physically located in one of these states for our virtual sessions, and you may access from any computer, telephone at home or at work.
Do You Have a Houston Counseling Office for In-Person Sessions?
At present, due to ongoing COVID health related concerns, all session are virtual until far than notification.
Does Counseling Work?
Counseling is an evidenced-based approach to dealing with mental heath, behavioral, and relationship issues. The services I provide are services that have an empirical basis for helping people make lasting changes.
Do You Work with Special Populations?
I work with a cross-section of people who all come from very different backgrounds and experiences. I work with all clients regardless of race, gender, sexuality, religion, or any other factor as long as you are in Texas or Louisiana.
